Visit of the Minister of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic
On 19 November 2018 Mr. Arpád Érsek, the Minister of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic, visited the Technical University of Košice, where he was welcomed by prof. Stanislav Kmeť, the Rector of TUKE. The main objective of the Minister´s visit was the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the SR and the Technical University of Košice. The Memorandum is historically the first cooperation agreement on cooperation with this ministry and creates preconditions for broadening cooperation for all TUKE faculties in the field of transport, postal services, electronic communication, science, research and, of course, construction.
After signing of the Memorandum, the Minister continued to visit the Faculty of Aeronautics TUKE. The aim was to discuss with the management of the faculty about faculty capabilities, as well as possibilities of cooperation with the Ministry of Transport. Attention was paid mainly to the development of cooperation of the Faculty of Aeronautics with companies under the scope of the Ministry of Transport focusing on civil aviation. The Faculty of Aeronautics TUKE is the only faculty of its kind in Slovakia, which has an accredited study programme “Air Traffic Controller”. Based on this long-standing competence of the faculty, one of the prospective areas of cooperation is the provision of supplementary training of future air traffic controllers in cooperation with the state enterprise Air Traffic Services of the Slovak Republic.
